At the heart of the sports policy work done by the Committee on Sports and Volunteering is the promotion and funding of effective, sustainable parameters for elite sport – including for people with disabilities. Among other topics, the 14 members of the committee deal with regulations to combat doping and manipulation in sport along with the societal significance of sport for other areas of life such as education, health, integration and the economy. In addition, they look at volunteering in Germany. Citizens across the country get involved to a large extent on a voluntary basis and without pay in the interests of society. To do so, they rely on structures that encourage such commitment, the improvement of which is one of the tasks of the committee.
